PMAY Duration Extension: Originally slated for completion by FY 2021-22, the PMAY scheme has been extended until December 31, 2024, with all verticals except the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) set to complete sanctioned houses by March 31, 2022. However, no additional houses will be sanctioned during the extended period.

Eligibility Criteria for PMAY: To be eligible for PMAY benefits, applicants must not have an annual income exceeding Rs 18 lakh, should not own a pucca house anywhere in the country, and should not have previously availed of any government housing grant.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U) mission, launched in 2015 to provide housing for all in urban areas by 2022, was extended in August 2022 till December 2024 to focus on completing already sanctioned houses. While the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme ended in March 2022, other verticals of PMAY-U continue with the goal of providing affordable housing to low-income groups. The recent budget allocated increased funding to the program, and further expansion is expected with the announcement of building 2 crore more houses in the next 5 years.

Documents Required for PMAY: The documents required for PMAY application include identity proof, address proof, income proof, certificates of valuation for the property, NOC from competent authority, and an affidavit stating the absence of pucca house ownership.

Offline PMAY Application: Offline PMAY applications can be submitted at state-run Common Service Centres (CSCs) or designated banks listed under the PMAY scheme. A nominal fee of Rs 25 is charged for filling the PMAY registration form offline.

How to Apply for PMAY-G in 2024:

Under PMAY-G, beneficiaries are identified based on housing deprivation parameters and exclusion criteria prescribed under the Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC)-2011. Registration of beneficiaries is facilitated by state officials on the PMAY-G official website.
